What are the advantages of lateral foil application?

In contrast to conventional double-sided machines that laminate the profile from the top and bottom, the NWD series ensures that both profile sides are clearly visible and readily accessible, thereby greatly facilitating the operator’s work.

• Simple set-up: With top-and-bottom lamination, preparing the machine for coating the underside is disadvantageous; the pressure rollers must be painstakingly adjusted into the correct position and complex profile geometries are seldom accommodated. In lateral lamination, however, both sides are equally accessible and simple to set up.
• Enhanced production control: For the same reason, quality monitoring during production on an NWD machine is significantly simpler. Since both sides of the profile can be observed without obstruction, any potential issues are immediately apparent and can be promptly rectified.
• Stable profile guidance: Lateral film lamination offers the advantage that profiles are guided stably over the machine’s transport rollers throughout the entire process. When laminating the underside, the primer is applied to the lower surface, necessitating that the profile is kept clear of contact with the transport rollers until it is fully dry – a requirement that, in conventional setups, leads to the removal of these rollers and reliance on side guides. With lateral lamination, this precaution is unnecessary, and control of the primer application is considerably easier to manage.

Who is a double-sided profile wrapping machine suited for?

Double-sided laminating machines offer the significant advantage of coating two sides of a profile in a single operation. In comparison, a single-sided machine would require two separate passes with attendant retooling. This means that, for the same linear metreage, a double-sided laminator yields twice the output.

Admittedly, the set-up of a double-sided machine is more time-consuming since both sides must be prepared simultaneously. Nonetheless, such a machine delivers maximum efficiency for large production runs and extended manufacturing cycles, fully realising its benefit of doubled throughput.
